HOW GEOTHERMAL ENERGY SYSTEMS WORK
Geothermal heat pumps work by accessing the moderate temperatures found beneath the earth’s surface. A non-hazardous glycol solution is circulated through a network of tubing buried in shallow ground near the building. The tubing carries heat from the earth through the system and into the facility. It reverses itself in the summer. Geothermal systems can reduce annual heating costs by 40 – 70 percent. They can be used to provide heating, cooling and hot water. This energy source is found worldwide and will never be in danger of depletion. |
